Yunnan is home to more than 50% of the world's edible mushroom varieties, with an especially rich diversity of wild mushrooms known for their intense umami flavor. Every year during the rainy season in Yunnan, from June to August, people from all over the country make special trips to the province to taste these fresh wild fungi.
