During harvest season, workers use baskets like this to pick ripe cherries before they over-ripen and darken. It’s a race against time, weather, and sunlight. In the mountains, one estate we visited used to send a pickup truck to collect cherries from each farmer every day, then work around the clock to make sure the fruit was processed while it was still fresh.
